This piece was inspired by the story of an acquaintance of mine who was in the hospital on a ventilator due to COVID-19. Her daughter’s impassioned social media messages and Berinda’s subsequent release from the hospital were truly remarkable, and she is continuing to improve. I used blue star millefiori backed with silver metallic tape for the stars/prayers and cut the holes for them with a drill press. The heart constellation symbolizes the love that so many people have for her and her initials are in the background as well.
